The Joy, The Bliss!

Some couples have a joyful website about their wonderful relationship, so I thought we needed one as well (the website, not the relationship - domains are much cheaper than shrinks). This domain unites our initials, as the marriage unites us (I can hear gagging out there - stop it!) Besides, that implies we walk around with a hyphen between us, so think about that for a while.

Our personal wedding site on the Knot expired long ago (what does that say about how long they think a marriage will last?), so I decided to replace it with one of our own. (I stole the twin initials idea from a co-worker from long ago.) I'll try to keep this up to date, at least as I'm told what is going on in the household that is important for me to know. (If you missed the wedding, we would still be happy to accept gifts. If you thought we'd never make nine years, pay off your bets.)

For the record, Kevin and Virginia were joined together in Holy Matrimony on February 11, 2000 on-board the Dreamcatcher off the coast of Key West, Florida. Her best friend was Maid of Honor. His brother was Best Man. (Both have asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons.) Virginia's Mom listened in via cell phone from New Jersey. Kevin wrote the vows. The officiant was a Notary Public who was also a Healing Minister (a long story.) Some of his family may never recover. (Kevin would have just done the ceremony himself, but he wasn't ordained until after they returned from Florida. He also noted that first you're declared man and wife and the next thing you're declared is dead.)

Also for the record, we haven't killed each other yet (at least as of January 10, 2009), although I think Virginia has contemplated it from time to time. I have never found her weapons cache, however, she does inquire about my insurance at work a bit too often for my liking. On the flip side, I know I could just crack her on the head and tell her family "She tripped!" This keeps her in line. Somewhat.

Our life is (as predicted) a continuous joy, interrupted very occasionally by bizarre family issues, weddings in exotic locales, fun trips back and forth to New Jersey, random housing issues and really, really expensive vet and doctor visits. (Question - How many doctors can you have on speed-dial, anyway? Follow-up question - What does it mean if your vet sends you a gift at Christmas?)

We've even managed to start a non-profit organization together, so things must be going relatively well. Please visit Sparky's Pals for information on how you can help educate children on proper pet care and how to humanely treat animals. We miss Sparky. (We also miss Max, and the two birds who have crossed the bridge.)

Today, we have each other, our house, and five wonderful dogs [one limping, but not as much as Virginia].We have also just witnessed my son follow us into marriage - the three-ring circus (engagement ring, wedding ring, suffering.) J. R. and Ginger were married on January 3, 2009, so they have their own site.

Virgina's Mom has her own site, as well. We miss her.

In sum, we have found:
The joy! The bliss! The rapture!

In the native tongue of the bride:
The friggin' joy!

In the native tongue of the groom:
I'm purt pleased with it all!

This is the (amazingly still) happy couple at their niece's wedding in the Summer of 2008. Virginia is smiling because she got Kevin in a suit - again. Kevin is smiling because they're not dancing, and because it's the last wedding for a while.
This is the (still) happy couple, dancing at their nephew's wedding in the Summer of 2005. They're smiling because it's now being confirmed that they're not the only ones insane enough to get married.

(Actually, Virgina's smiling because she finally got Kevin into a suit, and he's smiling because there was an open bar. So it goes.)
